Nicky and Sam’s backyard wedding was one I’ll never forget. Amidst the challenges of the pandemic, their wedding was a much-needed beautiful break from it all. It’s hitting the blog a few years late, but I couldn’t miss sharing such a special moment! As a wedding photographer in London, Ontario, this one will always hold a special place in my heart. After months of being apart, Nicky and Sam’s friends and family came together to celebrate. And after months of not being behind my camera, it was so nice to have a little bit of ‘normal’! We were honoured to document their story and are so thankful they invited us to capture it. It started with getting ready photos with the most fun wedding party. How stunning were Nicky’s flowers, too?!
One of the most touching moments of Nicky and Sam’s wedding was their first look. As the couple locked eyes for the first time on their special day, Sam couldn’t hold back his tears. It was such a perfect moment and every reason why we love first looks so much! After that, we took some portraits and met up with their wedding party.

Nicky and Sam decided to have their wedding in Nicky’s parents’ backyard. Wedding venues were still under many restrictions so it was the best way to move forward! Plus, it added a touch of warmth and familiarity to the event, which is always so nice at a wedding. They kept things simple, with flowers in vases and a white tent for the reception. It left the attention on the newlyweds!
To add a touch of whimsy and joy to the ceremony, Nicky and Sam decided to include a flower man. As he walked down the aisle he playfully threw flower petals, and everyone loved it! As wedding photographers in London, Ontario, we’ve seen almost everything… But this was a first for us!
After months of separation, Nicky and Sam’s wedding was the perfect reason for a reunion. It brought to their family and friends together for all the best reasons!. The atmosphere was filled with an overwhelming sense of happiness all day long. It was such an honour to witness and capture their heartwarming love story!
The entire wedding day was filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable moments. From their tearful first look to the flower man – and even to the hand sanitizer, every detail added to the beauty of their story.
