Engagements

Our first session of 2021 couldn’t have been more perfect! After the post-Christmas lockdown, Emily and I, like most London Ontario Wedding Photographers, were so anxious to get back behind our cameras. Emily absolutely rocked this session with Tamara and Corey!

They headed to Mill Pond in Dorchester on a gorgeous afternoon at the end of February. It was where they grew up, and I loved that sentimental touch for their session!

The paths around the pond were so icy and they were all slipping everywhere, but you’d never know it from their photos!

I asked Tamara and Corey some questions about wedding planning, when they first met, and so much more. Here’s more of their story, in their words!

What were your first impressions when you met?

Tamara- We grew up around the corner from each other so we knew each other as kids. I was really shy back then and Corey would walk me home from school and make me laugh. I thought he was a really kind boy who brought me out of my shell.

Corey- I thought Tamara was a very thoughtful, caring and beautiful girl. I used to race over to the bus stop on my bike, in hopes to get an opportunity to give her a lift home. Meeting again as adults was exciting! I got to fall in love all over again.

What made you two connect so well in the beginning?

Tamara- I think our shared history. Our lives went in very different directions after we moved away from our hometown but when we reconnected years later it felt really familiar and comfortable.

Corey- I also think we value the same things in life, the way we view the world, and from a partner.

Who said “I love you” first?

Corey did.

What is your secret to a great relationship?

Tamara- Finding someone that you have fun with. Corey has really helped me to not take life so seriously. We laugh a lot doing everyday tasks like cooking or grocery shopping. It doesn’t really matter what we are doing I enjoy spending time with him.

Corey- I would say communication. We were in a long-distance relationship for 2.5 years

What are the three best words you would use to describe each other?

Tamara- Corey is a thoughtful, funny, and warm person.

Corey- Tamara is compassionate, smart and genuinely herself.

What are some ways that you prioritize your relationship during the wedding planning process?

Tamara- Working from home during the pandemic we pretty much spend 24/7 together. The wedding planning process has been something different to do together and given us something to look forward to.

What are you looking forward to for your wedding day?

Tamara- Celebrating with our family. We both come from pretty small, close-knit families so being able to have everyone together (fingers crossed) to celebrate with us is something I’m really looking forward to.

Corey – Family and friends are important to us so having them all together and celebrating during these times will give us all some much-needed and deserved joy.

What has been your favorite part of wedding planning so far?

Tamara- Touring different venues. It really helped us to envision what our wedding day could look like.

What is one thing that has surprised you about planning a wedding?

Tamara- I am a bit worried I’ll jinx myself, but I have been surprised with how seamless the process has been so far. Booking our venue and vendors has gone smoothly and there hasn’t been a point yet where I have felt stressed out about the process.

Corey – I agree.

What are some things on your bucket list together?

Tamara- Corey really likes Feudal Japan history so when we can travel again we’d like to visit Japan.

Corey – Perhaps a trip near the arctic circle so Tamara can have an opportunity to see the Aurora Borealis at its finest.
