Fall Engagement Session

Engagements

| Meadowlily Woods Engagement Session |

As Life is Beautiful Photography has started growing, one of the things I’ve been most excited about is bringing on an associate photographer to the team. For anyone who isn’t following along on social media (side note – what are you waiting for, friend?!!) I announced last September that my long-time second-shooter/friend/sanity-saver Emily, would be filling that very role! That means that couples are able to book their weddings and have me or Emily capture the magical moments of their day :)

Caitlin and Ben were Emily’s very first LIBP couple, and to say she hit the jackpot is the biggest understatement. Ben’s older sister was one of my first brides when I started LIBP, so continuing the tradition in this next chapter is truly perfect!

Though the session started with a bit of a hiccup – Caitlin and Ben’s car had a flat tire when they arrived at Meadowlily Woods Trail – you would never know that they were starting things off on such a stressful note. I looked through their photos from their engagement session and it was shot after shot of fall magic, adorable smiles, romantic snuggling, cute kisses by the bridge… Emily captured these two in the most perfect way!

Scroll through to see some of my favourites, and read through some of Caitlin’s perspective about their relationship, wedding planning in a pandemic, and what they’re looking forward to most about being married :)

What were your first impressions when you met?

We met through Caitlin’s college roommate (Ben’s high school friend coincidentally) so we were both just trying to not be awkward.

*

What made you two connect so well in the beginning?

Patience definitely, along with our commitment to a (sometimes) long-distance relationship. We didn’t let it get in the way.

Who said “I love you” first?

That is a great question! The answer, we don’t remember! We do not even know when we officially started dating, guess when we figure that out, we will this too? Haha!

What is your secret to a great relationship?

It really is about the little things: leaving a note, communication, and being considerate of each other’s space.

What are the 3 best words you would use to describe each other?

Caitlin- “ I describe Ben as thoughtful, persistent and ginger.”

Favorite type of movie to watch together?

We watch a lot of Disney movies together, they never get old! Along with musicals/broadway and Harry Potter.

What are some ways that you prioritize your relationship during the wedding planning process?

We try to communicate as much as possible, prioritizing input from both of us so that we are both heard. Being on the same page allows for us to stay current, not stress (as much) and be present and enjoy the planning process.

*

What has been your favorite part of wedding planning so far?

Seeing everything come together. You can imagine it, and talk about it, but when you see it all unfold, it makes the dream, a reality.

What is one thing that has surprised you about planning a wedding?

How despite barriers and *cough cough* pandemics (or flat tires), there is still so much joy and excitement in each step of the planning.
