Ashley and Nolan – the first Life is Beautiful Photography couple of 2021 to get married, and the day couldn’t have been more perfect!
These two have had to navigate so, so much throughout their wedding planning process (the pandemic really has not made it easy for couples to celebrate their love and say “I Do!”). They had already postponed their original date last summer, and they wanted to finally start this new chapter in their lives no matter what came their way. So, they decided – no more waiting. That’s the kind of spirit I. am. HERE. for!
Though they had to make a few accommodations with vendor and venue changes, the day still came together perfectly. There was beautiful weather, and everyone was so happy to finally be together to celebrate the newlyweds. The food was incredible, and their DJ (who they, unfortunately, couldn’t have at their reception) created a mix for them to play music on their own, so everyone was up, dancing, and enjoying the beautiful summer night.
Here are some of my favourite moments, along with more of the story from Ashley and Nolan’s perspective!
Were you nervous, or calm and excited while getting ready?
Nervous, because we had vendors cancel due to covid. There was more uncertainty about timing and doing our own makeup.
How did your bridal party/family help you at the beginning of the day?
My sister did the bridal and bridal party makeup.
Did you do a first look? If so, what was that moment like?
No (They saw each other for the first time as Ashley danced down the aisle with her parents! It was perfect!)
What were your thoughts when you first saw each other?
Ashley – Happy to finally make it down the aisle and see Nolan there waiting for me.
Nolan – How happy I was and how beautiful she looked.
How did you feel when you walked down the aisle?
Nervous, it was a busy and stressful morning up until heading out the door. And wanted to make sure not to trip on my dress as my parents and I did a little dance down.
What did you love about your vendors?
We were feeling very overwhelmed by the decision making which became more complicated when we lost vendors due to covid. The ones we were able to keep were great at helping us feel at ease and made the day go smoothly.
What moments of your day will you never forget?
The food, the drinks, and the dancing and the people there to share it.
Whare are you looking forward to the most about being married?
Not having to plan a covid wedding ever again! And starting a new stage in our lives and relationship… kids.
What advice would you give to a newly engaged couple?
Don’t get married during a pandemic! Hire a wedding planner.
How excited were you for the food at the reception? What did you eat?
Very, I hadn’t eaten since 6:30 am. We had taquitos, chicken and rice/potatoes, salad and hummus. The food was plentiful and delicious!
Did you whisper anything sweet in each others ears during the first dance?
Just “hey, we’re married.” We have continued to remind each other randomly lol.
What are your honeymoon plans?
Not a whole lot due to covid rules. We have a couple of nights away in Niagara on the Lake. We are looking forward to just relaxing.
