I loved so many things about this wedding day, but the people that I met were, by far, the best part about it!
I met Maisam and Mustafa just a month before their wedding day when I did their engagement photos, and immediately thought they were the loveliest couple. When their wedding day arrived and I got to meet the rest of their family, I could quickly see that everyone else was the same. They were so warm and welcoming to Emily and I!
Mustafa arrived to pick Maisam up from her parents’ house as part of their Arabic wedding traditions, and guests threw flower petals as the music got started with traditional drums, singing, and dancing in the driveway. It was so great seeing everyone together to celebrate the newlyweds!
We headed to Ivey Park for some photos of Maisam and Mustafa in the Peace Gardens afterwards, with the tiniest bit of rain breaking through in the middle that kept everything looking so green! It’s one of my favourite locations because there’s something new and beautiful to add to the photo every few feet no matter what angle you’re standing at. But honestly, the background really just faded away once I started taking the photos, because the emotion between Maisam and Mustafa – the happiness and love in their smiles, especially – was all that I could see!
And then before we knew it, it was time for their reception…
They opted for a big tent to be able to keep everyone distanced – weddings in 2020 come with their fair share of guidelines to accommodate to keep everyone safe! It was beautifully decorated inside with vineyard chairs, white tablecloths, and greenery with floating candles as the centrepieces. Plus, in true pandemic-wedding fashion, there were monogrammed face masks for everyone, and individual hand sanitizers at each place setting, too :)
I hope you enjoy some of my favourites from the day – it couldn’t have been a more perfect wedding to end August with!
