Have you had a chance to get out and take a huge breath of fresh air yet, now that all the trees have started blooming? It’s so refreshing now that spring is finally here!
Spring is my second most popular time of year for family portrait sessions (first is fall.. When you live in the “Forest City,” those fall colours win every time!). This week we’re talking all about locations – how to choose, and which spots in the city are best during certain times of year!
When you’re trying to choose a location, no matter what type of session you’ve booked, there are a few key things to consider:
Is this an area where you and everyone else joining the session will feel comfortable and most like themselves?
Is this a really populated area, and are there areas to go to that will eliminate the people from the background of your photos?
If you have small children, or if you want pets to join you for your session, is this location a safe place for them to be able to run around?
The great thing about London is that there is no shortage of amazing locations to do your photos, no matter what style you’re looking for…
Nature – Springbank Park, Westminster Ponds, Fanshawe Conservation Area
Urban – Downtown’s Financial & Entertainment areas
Classic – Wortley Village, Western University Campus
… and no matter what time of year you’re looking for!
Winter – Western University Campus, Springbank Park
Spring – Springbank Park (magnolia trees bloom for 2-3 weeks around the beginning of May)
Summer – Port Stanley, Downtown/Thames River (gorgeous at sunset!)
Fall – Springbank Park (fall colours peak mid to late October!)
I have a whole list of location ideas in and around the city that I’m more than happy to send you when you’re booking your next session. Check out these blogs to see two of my favourite spots – Port Stanley and the Western University campus!
