| Fall in Springbank Park |
Erin and Dillon’s engagement session in Springbank Park was too much fun, but I have to be honest. Their dog Abby totally stole the show – I think they knew that was going to happen when they brought her, though!
She brought so much personality of her own to their session, but also brought out Erin and Dillon’s personalities as well, and helped lighten the mood. It’s a lot easier to forget there’s a camera around when your dog is jumping up into your photo to say hi!
Normally at this point in the blog, I ramble on about my client’s outfits, or the weather, or something else about the session. But after 5+ years of blogging and writing different versions of the same things each time, I wanted to mix things up a bit around here and start letting the story be more about the very people you’re looking at photos of. Who better to tell that story, than they themselves?!
I asked Erin and Dillon some questions about relationships, wedding planning, and what they’re looking forward to most about their wedding day. Scroll through to read their answers, and enjoy some of my favourites from their engagement session!

What were your first impressions when you met?
I remember meeting Dillon and thinking how beautiful his bright blue eyes were. Dillon said he saw me laughing with my friends and thinking I had a beautiful smile.

Apparently Dillon, according to Dillon.

What is your secret to a great relationship?
Communication is key. Being long-distance for nearly three years not having the ability to see each other often made us focus on just talking about absolutely everything.
*
*
What are the 3 best words you would use to describe each other?
For Dillon, easy-going, kind and generous For Erin, personable, intelligent and caring

Favourite thing to do on a date night?
Cook (and eat). We love picking out a new recipe or trying to recreate a dish we’ve had in restaurant with our own spin. When Erin was living in Boston, we would always go the Italian markets and pick up fresh pasta and seafood for the best seafood pasta!

Favourite type of movie to watch together?
Normally thrillers – something that can keep Erin’s attention for the whole movie and prevents Dillon from falling asleep.
*
What are some ways that you prioritize your relationship during the wedding planning process?
Planning a wedding during COVID is no joke. We made a promise to each other to just roll with where the planning process takes us to ensure we don’t lose sight of the ultimate goal – to get married!
*
*
What are you looking forward to for your wedding day?
Seeing all of our friends and family – particularly those who live away from us.
*
*
What has been your favourite part of wedding planning so far?
Can we say nothing? But seriously. We’re pretty aligned on how we see our day so it’s been fun working on a vision for our day together.
*
*
What is one thing that has surprised you about planning a wedding?
All of the details!! Every vendor we’ve worked with has been so amazing and asked us questions that we have never thought about. So many little things to think about far beyond the big things.

What are some things on your bucket list together?
Travel! Europe and South America are top of the list.
