I need to get back to British Columbia for another Kelowna wedding ASAP 😍
This was my first time ever going out west in Canada, and I really hope it won’t be the last! I can see why everyone falls in love with the mountains so easily and I only saw them for such a short time!
Winds started blowing in smoke from the forest fires in the U.S. on our first day. By the time we woke up on our second morning, the skies were completely white with smoke and stayed that way for the rest of our trip.
That second day, also happened to be Angela and Anton’s wedding day! They had originally booked their destination wedding with me for a tropical getaway in Cayo Coco, Cuba, but like so many couples, they had their wedding plans completely changed by the pandemic. Rather than postponing, they decided to book a wedding at the Okanagan Beach Club instead, with just their family there to celebrate with them.
The smoke gave us the dreamiest, almost misty look to their photos and I’m obsessed with how they turned out. Sure, it would have been amazing to have the gorgeous mountain views in the photos, too – but 2020 is just a year of surprises and this was just another one of them!
When Angela was getting her makeup done, she was staring out at the beautiful cliffside mountains and knew she had to get some photos on top of them. She kicked off her shoes after their first look, and she and Anton climbed to the top for some epic portraits. Then we headed down to the lake for some smoky fun on Lake Okanagan :)
Their beach ceremony was one of my favourites, and so uniquely them. Their officiant was playful and rather than trying to keep things stiff and formal, joked around with Angela and Anton and it made for some of the best candids! I wish all wedding ceremonies were like that.
When it was time for their reception, their daughters and niece were the life of the party. They twirled and dipped their way around the room. We danced the Cha-Cha-Slide together (my wedding reception jam!). And the night ended with some sparkler photos! Smoke and all, I loved every second of this wedding day and this small part of British Columbia has stolen a piece of my heart!
