Your first kiss during your wedding ceremony is a big moment. It’s your ‘last first kiss’ and deserves to be documented in a picture-perfect way! Make sure that moment is absolutely perfect for your photos! There are two things I’ve learned as a photographer at weddings in London, Ontario that I want to share to help with just that:
1. Ask your officiant to move out of the way
2. Hold your kiss a little longer than you normally would
I know – both of these might have left you feeling all kinds of awkward. But I promise it will be worth it!
Your officiant has been asked to step out of the way by countless couples who are where you are right now. You won’t be the first and you won’t be the last! If your officiant is offended by this request or says no, they won’t move off to the side, they might not be the right fit for you. Your dream team of wedding vendors will share their expertise but at the end of the day, we’re here to make this the day you’ve been dreaming of! And that includes not having someone awkwardly peeking out from behind you as you share your first kiss.
And though it might not feel natural, holding that kiss a little longer will ensure the moment is captured without awkward pre-kiss puckers! It ensures your photographers are able to capture it from multiple angles. And, will probably even have you giggling a little along the way. Giggling brings out your natural smile and personality! Wins all around!
