| A Rainy Day For a Rustic Barn Wedding |
The first wedding of the season was so wonderful. Oh so rainy, but wonderful nonetheless!
I was so excited to kick off June with Alanna and Michael’s wedding. Every time we met, we’d start talking about their wedding but then trail off into laughter and other conversations. It was more like hanging out with friends! So I knew that when their wedding day arrived, it would be just like that and more.
They picked the most gorgeous property to host their wedding. The barn was perfectly decorated with greenery and gold and burgundy accents, and the view of the pond under a willow tree for their ceremony was breathtaking. I was so disappointed when Mother Nature had plans of her own – the heavy rainfall started just minutes before the ceremony! After trying to wait it out, Alanna and Michael decided it was best to move everyone back to the barn to have the ceremony indoors instead. It might not have been their original plan, but the most important thing to them was to just be surrounded by their friends and family, and they were able to have exactly that. (I also have to commend all of the wedding guests for some epic teamwork skills – the whole group walked a tent overtop of a vintage car while still staying sheltered from the rain themselves! It was one of those times that I almost wished I shot video… Almost!)
We shuffled the timeline of the day a little bit to navigate the rain (thanks to some help from Alanna and Michael’s amazing wedding planners, Kassandra and Amy from Unmistakably You!), and postponed wedding party and bride and groom portraits until after dinner. Thankfully the rain finally went away! We headed back down to the pond to take their portraits there since the ceremony got moved indoors, and the post-rain haze in the air made everything worth the wait.
And then, to end the night in the best way possible – Alanna and Michael surprised their guests with fireworks! Anyone who knows me can tell you that I’m obsessed with fireworks. I just love them so much! So there could not have been a more perfect way to end the first wedding of the season!
Alanna and Michael, thank you so much for having us as part of your wedding day! Congratulations again! <3
